Delorean (band): from Spain, Wikipedia calls them an "alternative dance band";
Delorean (car): from Northern Ireland, can be used for time travel.
62. Frightened Rabbit – “Nothing Like You”
Just played the Fillmore in May, now I see they've scheduled another show for the same venue in October, joining Freelance Whales, Free Energy, and Stars on the list of "Bands not from San Francisco who still manage to play here roughly every three days, or at least it seems that way to Aaron" ... I'm not complaining, because I like all of them, but ... don't you guys have homes?
63. Band of Horses – “Dilly”
An irrationally large part of my Band of Horses fandom comes from this one sentence (taken from the Pitchfork review of their last album):
Following the success of their debut Everything All the Time and the subsequent departure of founding member Mat Brooke, the remaining members of Band of Horses moved from Seattle to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and set to recording their follow-up, Cease to Begin, in Asheville.
If I made a list of probably-impossible life goals, "Leave big city, move to small town somewhere warm, record near-perfect album of southern-tinged country rock songs" would be towards the top ... just imagine the amount of porch-sitting and sweet-tea-drinking that must have taken place, not to mention the rambling, moseying, mid-day naps ... I'm more relaxed just thinking about it.
64. Gaslight Anthem – “American Slang”
Playing a free show in San Jose Thursday, July 23 ... you should come!
(Also, just fair warning that there are going to be a LOT of Gaslight Anthem songs between here and #1).
65. Drive By Truckers – “Santa Fe”
"All I have to do is revel in the everyday / Then do it again tomorrow" ... I cut "This Fucking Job" from an early version of this list, and it's time to accept the fact that The Big To-Do just isn't that good ... this song, though, is still twangy and wonderful.
